DIY Shift Dress Paintings

While I would like my bedroom to be a completely finished project, a headboard currently isn't in my budget. In a perfect world, I would get this one or perhaps this one, but I just can't justify the cost right now, especially since I had to buy so many more practical things for my apartment. I also have dreams of upholstering a headboard in the same fabric as my duvet and sheets, though that hasn't happened yet (perhaps because I can't fit a chunk of plywood in my tiny car?)

However, I couldn't just leave the space above my bed blank. My walls are staying off-white because I couldn't bear the thought of painting and re-painting in yet another rental. I clearly needed to something with that big plain wall behind my bed, and though I've attempted the DIY headboard out of wall hangings before, as seen here, but I needed to switch it up this time around. Enter 6 11"x14" canvases, a homemade stencil, and some leftover paint. About 2 hours later, I had 6 contrasting shift dress paintings ready to decorate the wall behind my bed.

I love that these paintings are simplistic enough not to distract from the prints on both my bedding and the rug, yet they play off the beachy vibe of the room and complement the turquoise and navy color scheme. Plus, they add the visual height that I desperately needed above my bed, and, while I won't have the headboard of my dreams for a while, I'm pretty darn happy with how these turned out.
